For 30 years, SR has offered bassists a modern alternative. Thanks to its continuing popularity, Ibanez is constantly striving to meet the broader needs of a variety of players, with varying budgets. But whatever the specification, the heart is the same – the SR continues to excite with its smooth, fast handle, lightweight body and perfectly matched electronics.
With the bass held in play position, there are three small knobs closest to the lower edge of the body. Directionally, from bottom to neck, the buttons are treble boost/cut, midrange boost/cut and bass boost/cut. There are two large buttons above these, closer to the bridge. The knob closest to the neck controls the volume, and the knob next to it controls the pick-up balancer. There is a 3-way power switch next to the balancer button. When the switch is in the neck position, the humbuckers are tapped. When the switch is in the centre position, the humbuckers are in series. when the switch is in the bridge position, the humbuckers are in power take-off mode, which is operated with an extra low end added.

The 3-band EQ works in conjunction with a coil switch for maximum control over a wide variety of professional basses.
Tap mode (single coil) creates a punchy, dynamic sound with superior articulation. The series (humbucker) mode offers a full, warm tone, and the Power Tap mode offers the best of both worlds, combining the clarity of the single coil with the fat bottom end of the humbucker.

Jatoba has a reddish brown colour that produces a rich mid-range with a clean top end.
