The EVH 5150 Iconic Series meets the needs of concert and recording guitarists who want the pure, powerful sound of EVH tubes, but at a more affordable price. Evolving from the EVH 5150III amplifiers, the Iconic series delivers the searing sound and rumbling gain that the late Eddie Van Halen made famous throughout his groundbreaking career.
Designed by famed engineer James Brown, the Iconic 5150 series 40-watt 1×12 combo is powered by two JJ 6L6 power tubes and two JJ ECC83S preamp tubes, providing all the power the modern guitarist needs. Armed with an EVH 12″ Celestion driver specially designed for this preamplifier circuit, pure tones and high-gain sounds are precise, clear and articulate. The cabinet is constructed from MDF with special internal plywood baffling for tight, enhanced bass response, and houses an EVH 12″ Celestion loudspeaker specially designed for this preamplification circuit, so pure, burning high-gain tones are tight, clear and articulate.
This combo features two channels with additional voicing on each for greater versatility. The green channel features an overdrive knob for switching from clean sounds to increased gain, while the red channel knob adds a fiery crunch, ideal for blistering tracks.
Each channel has its own gain and volume settings, allowing you to adjust the volume when switching from a clean channel to a high-gain channel. The rapid attack of Channel 2’s noise gates removes any hiss while ensuring that all staccato riffs are articulate and clean, not muffled and choppy. Channel 2’s Boost control lets you add 10 dB of extra volume to your sound, perfect for ensuring that your solos cut through the mix. The control panel also includes a split equalizer (low, mid and high frequencies), global resonance and presence knobs to adjust the low and high frequency aspects of your sound, and a global reverb control to add the perfect amount of bounce and decay for any room.
Other features include a two-button footswitch, an effects loop, two parallel speaker output jacks, a 1/4 power switch to reduce power – allowing you to run the amp hard while preserving the sound, but without destroying your neighbor’s solitude, and a speaker-emulated XLR DI jack with power amp mute for accurate tube EVH sound for direct recording or use via a PA system.
With its sophisticated and distinctive EVH styling, the 5150 Iconic Series 40-watt 1×12 combo is wrapped in black or ivory textured vinyl with a black fabric front grille and silver and black 5150 and EVH logo badges in the upper left and lower right corners. This lamp combo is completed by a brushed aluminum top panel, vintage-style chicken-head knobs and a molded black plastic top handle. A high-quality cover is available as an EVH accessory.
