D-PRE (Class-A Discrete Microphone Preamplifiers)
This is where it all begins. Everything you do as a sound engineer depends on the quality of your preamps, which determines the direction your mix will take and, ultimately, the sound quality. The MG Series mixing consoles are equipped with Yamaha’s studio-grade D-PRE Class-A discrete preamps, which utilize an inverted Darlington circuit comprising two cascading transistors in a configuration that delivers more power with lower impedance. Delivering fat and natural lows and smooth, soaring highs, with very low distortion, D-PRE preamps have an incredibly wide frequency range that allows them to handle the signal from any audio source without overly amplifying specific sound elements.
High-Quality Operational Amplifier
The preamp determines the sound quality, and operational amplifier integrated circuits are one of the most crucial parts of the preamp circuit. The MG Series mixers feature new, high-quality custom MG01 operational amplifiers that we developed in cooperation with the semiconductor manufacturer. While many other operational amplifiers prioritize electrical design and efficiency, we worked directly with the semiconductor manufacturer to focus first on sound quality. The MG01 operational amplifiers feature redesigned circuits where even internal components and wiring have been optimized, and they use materials such as high-quality silicon wafers and copper wire to achieve superb resolution.
Switchable Phantom Power and PAD Switch
With phantom power, the MG Series consoles allow you to fully enjoy the extended frequency response and high sound quality of condenser microphones. The input channel with a PAD switch accepts MIC to line level input, and the PAD switch attenuates high input signals that often accompany microphones on instruments during performances, preventing clipping that can seriously affect your mix.
