Description
Since 1987, musicians all over the world have come to know the playing comfort and unique sound of the SR bass. This year's lineup includes a wide array of options sure to fit just about any style of music. With Style Sweeper 3-band EQ, the SR basses can produce any sound you require.
The Ibanez SR700 is a four string bass guitar built from Mahogany wings and a Maple central block. It has a highly varnished Amber finish allowing the Mahogany grain to show through to full effect. The neck is a bolted on SR4 five piece sandwich of Jatoba and Bubinga, resulting in a strong yet thin construction. A 24 fret Rosewood fretboard is complemented by Abalone fret inlay markers, and the hardware is finished in an attractive gunmetal grey including the Accu-Cast B20 bridge and Y-shaped machine heads.
In the electronics department the Ibanez SR700AM is supplied with two large Bartolini MK1 pickups. The sound is controlled with a volume and pickup balance as well as a 3 band EQ. The jack plug input is situated on the face of the guitar at an unusual angle that directs the lead towards the strap button, quite sensible when you think about it.
The use of Mahogany in the construction helps improve the sustain and tone of the Ibanez SR700AM. All the edges of the body are heavily chamfered giving a rounded look to the guitar which is both attractive and comfortable. The mix and finish of woods along with the gunmetal coloured hardware all point towards a guitar that really means business.
