The SJ-200 has been known as the "King of the Flat-tops" since its introduction in the late-1930s. This jumbo-sized acoustic guitar typically features a spruce top with maple back and sides, although pre-war examples featured rosewood back and sides. Fitted with a Western-themed pickguard, the SJ-200 was adopted by early country singers with other western motifs adorned across the guitar. The long scale length combined with the large body makes for a powerful sound that is perfect for heavy strumming. The SJ-200 Standard is known for its piano-like sound qualities with a wide frequency response from the pronounced low end to the enhanced top end.

Starting with the body, a bearclaw spruce top with the brand-new Grizzly Burst finish is featured on the body of this jumbo acoustic guitar. Bearclaw spruce is uncommon to find on acoustic guitars as the figured tonewood is rare. Each piece of bearclaw spruce is inherently unique, just like a fingerprint. The Grizzly Burst finish features a water-based stain in combination with sprayed burst edges. This technique highlights the bearclaw spruce in a beautiful fashion while showing off the three-dimensional quality of the figured tonewood. Striped ebony is used on the bridge Moustache™ bridge as well as the inlay-free fretboard. The headstock is bound and features an inlaid script Gibson logo.
