Already considered the best drum kit in its price range, the new generation of Stage Custom Birch kits benefits from several notable improvements. Many of these changes are subtle but substantial. Yamaha has improved the drums with thicker folds inspired by the Live Custom series, rounded bevels for improved low frequencies and better contact with the skin, Absolute shells with a single attachment point, new molded hooks and spikes for the bass drums, and above all snare drums equipped with 10 tie rods for greater precision and tension in tuning.
The wood used to make the barrel is a key factor in whether the drum resonates or rumbles! That’s why we use 100% birch ply for the Stage Custom. With its 6-ply construction, the Stage Custom produces a mellow, precise and comfortable sound – great qualities for a drum set in this range.
The secret of our “YESS” system is twofold: firstly, it allows minimum contact between the clamp and the barrel – the shell is fixed at the “Nodal*” point, which is where there is no interference with the vibration of the barrel. Nylon gaskets add perfect stability. The “YESS” is also very effective at placing the toms very close together for your playing comfort. Then, on the bass toms, the “YESS” offer very open sustain while retaining great stability on the ground. * The “Nodal” point is the property of Noble and Cooley Drum company.
